Miss you messages
When you are apart, the messages that help are the ones that describe your day rather than your longing. These six do that, and still say the thing plainly.

Continue writing opens that message in the card with the words already in it, so all that is left is to change a word and send it. The last message is the longest of the six, and it is the only one you have to copy across yourself.
I miss you. Not dramatically. Just steadily, all day, in the background of everything else I'm doing. Hope things are going well at your end. Come back soon, or tell me when I can come to you. Either one suits me. ❤️
Continue writing with message 1I saved up four things to tell you today and I've already forgotten three of them, which is how I know it's been too long. I miss you. Everything I did this week would have been considerably better with you narrating it.
Continue writing with message 2It's quieter than I'd like and I'm handling it fine, which isn't the same as enjoying it. I miss you. Nothing needs fixing, I just wanted you to know you're the person I keep wanting to turn around and talk to all day.
Continue writing with message 3Missing you. Come back and take your side of the bed off my hands, I've been guarding it all week and it's a lot of responsibility. Also nobody here finds me funny, which I'm choosing to blame on the audience.
Continue writing with message 4This city would suit you, which I resent slightly, on the grounds that you're not in it. I keep noticing things you'd have opinions about. I miss you. Next time we do this together and we take our time over it.
Continue writing with message 5I miss you. Not dramatically, just steadily, all day, underneath everything else. I saved up four things to tell you and I've already forgotten three, which is how I know it's been too long. Everything I did this week would have been better with you narrating it. Come back soon, or tell me when I can come to you.
Report, do not lament. Tell him one thing that happened and why he would have found it funny. It says I miss you more convincingly than the words do, and it gives him something to reply to, which is how a long-distance thread stays alive.
Say when. Missing someone with no date attached is heavy; missing someone until the fourteenth is bearable. If there is no date yet, say that honestly too — it is better than an open-ended ache he cannot answer.
