Miss you messages
Long distance runs on a lot of small messages and very few real ones. These six are the real kind: written to be read once, slowly, rather than answered in thirty seconds.

Continue writing opens that message in the card with the words already in it, so all that is left is to change a word and send it. The last message is the longest of the six, and it is the only one you have to copy across yourself.
I miss you. Ordinary things are less interesting when you're not around for them, which I didn't expect to be so noticeable. Hope your week is going well. Two more weeks, and I'm counting properly, not in the casual way. ❤️
Continue writing with message 1I keep almost calling you about absolutely nothing and then remembering what time it is where you are. That's most of my day, if I'm honest. I miss you. Tell me when you're free and I'll stay up, I genuinely don't mind.
Continue writing with message 2Missing you today for no particular reason, which I think is the good kind of missing. Nothing is wrong here. It's just that everything is slightly better when there's a chance you'll walk in, and this week there isn't.
Continue writing with message 3The chai here is genuinely bad and there's nobody to complain to about it, which is somehow the worst part. I miss you. Come back and be unreasonable about restaurants with me. Somebody has to make the decisions.
Continue writing with message 4A song we listened to about a hundred times came on somewhere today and I stood in the middle of a shop like a fool. I miss you. When you're next here, let's put the whole thing on again from the start, far too loud.
Continue writing with message 5I miss you, steadily rather than dramatically, in all the gaps in the day where I'd normally say something to you about nothing at all. I keep almost calling and then remembering what time it is where you are. Ordinary things are less interesting without you around for them. Tell me when you're free and I'll stay up.
Miss you is a feeling; a detail is proof. Name the exact gap she leaves — the seat on the left in the auto, the fact that nobody else finds that shop funny, the show you have stopped watching because watching it alone feels wrong. One of those is worth a paragraph of longing.
Do not make her responsible for the missing. I miss you so much I cannot concentrate sounds romantic and arrives as guilt, especially if she cannot do anything about it. Say you miss her, say what you are looking forward to, and leave the ache out of the accounting.
Distance is easier to survive when something arrives that is not a text message.
