Continue writing opens that message in the card with the words already in it, so all that is left is to change a word and send it. The last message is the longest of the six, and it is the only one you have to copy across yourself.
Happy birthday. You're the best thing to have happened to me more or less by accident, and I've never quite got over the luck of it. Today is yours from start to finish, and I don't intend to share you with anybody else.

One joke, one true thing, in that order. The joke gets him reading and stops the card feeling like a speech; the true sentence after it is the part that stays. Reverse the order and the joke undercuts the sincerity you just spent.
Assume he might show it to someone. Men often do, with a birthday card, which is a compliment. Write it so the private line is warm rather than embarrassing, and you get the affection without the wince.
